Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Debit Card Advance? A: Debit Card Advance is an automatic overdraft service included with your personal checking account that allows us to approve an ATM withdrawal or debit card purchase in those rare instances when you do not have enough money available in your account, or a previous deposit you made is not yet available. Q: How do I get it? A: We offer Debit Card Advance on our personal checking accounts, so if you’d like to enroll, stop by any Riverside Bank or call 800.565.4368. Q: Are there fees for the service? A: You’ll pay a $31.93 fee for each transaction you make with your debit card if there is not enough money available in your account to cover the transaction(s) at the end of the day. If your account is overdrawn for 2 or more consecutive business days, we will charge an additional $6.00 per day. Q: When do I need to make my deposit to avoid an overdraft fee? A: If you realize you’ve accidentally overdrawn your account, you may be able to avoid an overdraft fee by making a cash deposit or transfer by cutoff time of the same business day to cover the amount of the shortage. Q: Do these changes apply to recurring debit card payments, online bill payments and checks? A: The changes to the regulation do not affect recurring debit payments, online bill payments or checks that you write. We will continue to pay these types of transactions just as we do today. Q: If I have Overdraft Protection, do I still need this service? A: Overdraft Protection allows us to access funds from other accounts you have with us to cover transactions that would overdraw your account. However, if you don’t have sufficient funds available in those accounts to cover you, your everyday ATM and debit card purchases will be declined. Debit Card Advance allows your ATM and debit card to work in an emergency, even if you don’t have enough money available in any of your accounts. Q: What if I can’t decide whether to enroll in Debit Card Advance? A: Just call 800.565.4368 or stop by any location. We’re here to answer all your questions and discuss your options. Q: What happens to my ATM and debit card withdrawals and purchases if I don’t enroll in Debit Card Advance? A: If you do not choose to enroll in Debit Card Advance, your one-time debit or ATM transactions may be declined the moment you swipe your card if you do not have enough money available in your account. Q: Can I change my mind after I make a decision about Debit Card Advance? A: Yes, you may change your mind at any time – simply let us know. We’re here to answer all your questions and discuss your options. You can call 800.741.3283 or stop by any Riverside Bank to chat.
